BlackRock states that its purpose is to help more and more people achieve financial well-being. In pursuit of that purpose, it has embedded a focus on long-term sustainability across its business. The firm believes climate risk is investment risk—and that extends to those saving for retirement. BlackRock is advancing sustainability through products and technology designed to help enable all investors to invest with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals in mind. It also is focused on research and insights, as it acknowledges there are many different approaches to sustainable investing and wants to make sure clients are well-informed.

BlackRock has a bevy of funds devoted to ESG investing, including its iShares ESG Aware suite of funds, which seeks to balance the pursuit of risk and return to the relevant broad market with a more sustainable outcome.
