| GEM utilizes a factor framework to construct policy portfolios that serve as a long-term guidepost for asset allocation. Factors represent investable return streams underlying all of GEM’s active and passive investments, promoting opportunistic capital allocation across the portfolio and providing transparency into portfolio risks. We construct policy portfolios utilizing broad factors: Equity, Credit, Commodities, REITs, Treasuries and TIPS. We believe our factor-based construct provides an innovative approach to capturing the multiple corresponding return streams of each investment within the portfolio. We tailor portfolios according to the return objectives, risk profile, illiquidity tolerance, and mission alignment needs of our clients. Our service philosophy is grounded in, first, understanding each client: its history, culture, operating condition, strategic plan, and overall health. We regularly assist clients with finance staff support, advancement initiatives, and ideas exchange with committees and boards. |
