(September 12, 2012) – The Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Xerox, and New Zealand’s Superannuation Fund, among others, have all repeated as nominees for aiCIO‘s Industry Innovation Awards.

First-time nominations include a number of big names: University of Texas Investment Management Company (with CIO Bruce Zimmerman), UPS (CIO Brian Pellegrino), and New Jersey Investment Division (CIO Tim Walsh), among them.

For the first time, aiCIO will also give out an award to a healthcare organization. Nominees in this new category include Ascension Health, Catholic Health East, Cook Children’s Health Care System, and Partners Health Care System.

Following a nomination period that spanned June and July, the aiCIO editorial team, along with an Advisory Board of past asset managers and asset owners, selected nominees with two central questions in mind: What is innovation, and who is executing on it? This means smart money-the asset owners who are challenging the status quo, succeeding, and have the returns to show for it.

This is the third year that aiCIO will host the Industry Innovation Awards. See a list of last year’s victorious asset owners here. Winners in the asset management servicing categories were recently announced, and are available here.

A full list of asset owner nominees is below. Winners for each category will be announced at a dinner on December 4 in New York City.
