(March 6, 2013) — The second largest pension fund manager in the Netherlands has confirmed its acting chief executive is to take the position permanently.

Else Bos is to take over the helm of PGGM, which manages more than €133 billion for five pension funds, the firm announced this morning. Bos has been in the role since November after the previous CEO, Martin van Rijn, joined the national government in the Ministry of Health. During this time she also kept her previous role as head of institutional business, which she took in 2010. The pension fund manager is actively recruiting for this position.

Frank de Grave, chairman of the cooperative governance shareholder at PGGM, said Bos’ appointment was logical as she was so at home in the financial and pension sector.

He added that continuity was important for the company.

Bos studied Econometrics in Rotterdam. She worked in various positions at ABN Amro and NIB Capital Asset Management. In 2002, she joined PGGM and in 2004 was made CEO of investments and joined the board of directors.

The appointment is subject to approval by the Dutch Central Bank.
