PIMCO has promoted Mohit Mittal to CIO of core strategies, the firm announced. Mittal will oversee fixed-income portfolios across PIMCO’s core suite of strategies and will lead the core portfolio management team. Primarily, Mittal will focus on strategies such as low- and moderate-duration, total return and long-duration.
Mittal will report to Dan Ivascyn, managing director and group CIO. PIMCO’s other CIOs include Andrew Balls for fixed income, Mark Kiesel for global credit, Marc Seidner for non-traditional strategies and Qi Wang for portfolio implementation.
“Mohit is the rare talent who brings deep quantitative expertise with macro insights to investing while embracing a collaborative approach that harnesses the best investment ideas generated by a team of portfolio managers,” Ivascyn said in a statement. “He’s a welcome addition to PIMCO’s highly experienced group of CIOs, and his focus on core strategies further strengthens our leadership in fixed-income markets.”
Mittal has spent 16 years at PIMCO, most recently as managing director and portfolio manager within the core strategies group. He was previously a consultant at Deloitte. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
