The Kentucky Public Pensions Authority, which oversees Kentucky’s $24.9 billion pension system, has appointed Ryan Barrow as the system’s next executive director, effective July 1. Barrow will succeed David Eager, executive director since 2016, who will retire at the end of June.
The KPPA board unanimously voted Wednesday to appoint Barrow, following a search process that started in October 2023.
Barrow has served as the executive director of Kentucky’s office of financial management since 2012.
Barrow was previously director of budgeting at the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, a financial adviser at Ross, Sinclaire & Associates LLC and a management consultant at Black & Veach. He earned Bachelor of Science, Master of Engineering and MBA degrees from the University of Kentucky.
