Columbia Business School, Emeritus Launch CIO Training Program

The nine-month process will include the use of behavioral finance principles and the integration of artificial intelligence into investing decisions.

Columbia Business School is launching a nine-month
CIO training program in December in conjunction with online education company Emeritus Institute of Management, aimed at improving CIOs’ investment strategies. Those who complete the program will earn a certificate in business excellence.

According to a brochure from Columbia University’s executive education department and Emeritus, the new program will cover investment strategy formulation, asset allocation and portfolio management through live online workshops and one in-person, open-enrollment elective. According to Columbia and Emeritus, the program will also cover integrating behavioral finance principles with empirical market analysis.

Other topics the program is intended to address include evaluating advanced portfolio management techniques through quantitative analysis and investing frameworks, as well as merging big data analytics with traditional investing strategies to help forecast trends. Participants will also analyze complex asset classes and use artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance their investing strategies.

“The chief investment officer program fosters the development of forward-thinking leaders who can effectively manage portfolios in a volatile financial landscape,” Mike Malefakis, Emeritus’ president of university partnerships, said in a release. “It equips participants to navigate the challenges posed by fintech innovations and the dynamic nature of global markets, preparing them to be adaptive and strategic in the face of rapid changes.”
