(April 12, 2010) — Aaron Meder has been appointed head of US pensions solutions for Legal & General Investment Management America (LGIMA).
Meder will report to CEO Mark Zinkula and is scheduled to start May 25. He will be responsible for the company’s construction and management of customized investment solutions, including liability driven investments (LDI), for US pension clients, according to a news release. LDIs have become most popular in the funding schemes of defined-benefit pension plans, whose liabilities often reach the billions.
“We are witnessing the start of tremendous growth in the LDI arena. Legal & General Investment Management America is winning new mandates and Aaron’s hire reinforces our global leadership in the LDI market. Aaron is a strong addition to our team and our culture,” said Mark Zinkula in the release.
Previously, Meder served as managing director and head of asset-liability investment solutions at UBS Global Asset Management. Additionally, Meder, a chartered financial analyst (CFA), led the US Pension Advisory Group and the Asset-Liability Investment Committee. Aaron worked at Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt Worldwide prior to working at UBS.
“I am delighted to be joining a firm with pioneering expertise implementing innovative, customized solutions for pension clients,” said Meder, who will be based in the firm’s US headquarters in Chicago. “I look forward to joining the Legal & General Investment Management America team.”
LGIMA is an investment adviser, specializing in fixed income and liability driven investment strategies for the US institutional market. LGIMA manages over $15 billion in fixed income assets, as of December 31, 2009.
