Karyn Vincent, senior head of global industry standards and executive director of theGlobal Investment Performance Standardsat the CFA Institute, will step down from her position at the end of January, sheannounced in a LinkedIn post. A spokesperson for the CFA Institute confirmed Vincent’splanned departure.

Vincent is currently responsible for overseeing the GIPS and the development of new investing industry standards. This past December, the institute established
guidance standards for outsourced CIO providers.

Globally, more than 1,700 firms claim compliance with the broad GIPS, which are ethical standards for reporting investment performance.

“It has been my highest honor to be responsible for the team that looks after the GIPS standards. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end,” Vincent wrote in a LinkedIn post. “I have decided that January 31st will be my last day with CFA Institute. I’m going to take a good, long break and then determine what will be my next phase.”

Vincent previously founded Vincent Performance Services LLC, which later merged with ACA Performance Services. The firm provided GIPS verification and consulting services.

Vincent started her career at Price Waterhouse in 1985, which she said provided her introduction to investment performance. “In 1989, I was a staff accountant working at what was then Price Waterhouse, in the Boston office. I was assigned to work on a project for Loomis, Sayles, which had hired PW to ‘audit’ the track record of Dan Fuss, the legendary fixed-income portfolio manager,” Vincent wrote in her LinkedIn post. “That was my introduction to investment performance, which eventually became the focus of my career.”
